Choose your ride for the tour
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE MAGICAL SOUTH TOUR
You will start your tour at the typical colonial estate, Domaine des Aubineaux, which dates back 1819. Enter this ancient estate colonial house of the French occupation which has been now transformed into a museum.
At the Plantation House, you will get acquainted with the production of vanilla and aquarium flowers. You will be entitled to join a visit to the old sugar factory of the estate and rum tasting at the end of your visit.
We will then take you to Grand Bassin where you will also get to see the Statue of Lord Shiva. The statue is of 108 feet (33 meters) and is the highest known statue in Mauritius (one of the 50 highest statue in the world).
The sight of the Mangal Mahadev Statue is quite impressive as it is a beautiful crafted very big statue.
Stop at Bois Cheri Tea Factory and Tea Museum, you will have the opportunity to discover the tea plantation of Bois Cheri. It`s no doubt the most popular tea in Mauritius; just the smell of the wonderful vanilla – infused black tea brings back fond memories for all Mauritians.
A guide will walk you around during your visit and you also guide you on the history, stories and tales of all the sites. Taste the many varieties of tea as you pause for a traditional tea break. The Bois Cheri is the first and biggest tea producer in Mauritius, operating since 1892.
It`s then on to discover the exotic La Vanille Reserve des Mascareignes where Nile Crocodile, Monkeys & giant Aldabra Tortoises and an insectarium are found among luxuriant tropical vegetation.
Then will take you to the La Plantation de Saint Aubin, Rhumerie uses both the artisanal and traditional distillery techniques to make its award-wining rum.
You will have the opportunity to visit the factory and learn about the rum-making process and sampling the delicious varieties of rum that they offer.
You can also visit the beautiful historical colonial house and the vanilla and anthurium flower plantation.
Finally, we will turn head to Gris-Gris Beach, the pleasure of magnificent beauty of its blue waters, spread far and wide. Located near the Souillac village in the southern part of Mauritius, the beach is known for its majestic rock formation and amazing greenery.
It is an ideal tourist spot just for the reason that it brings you close to nature. A simple walk by the shores fills you up with immerse tranquility, joy and positive energy.
Famous for Rock formations (La Roche Qui Pleure) around the beach, also the hypnotizing sound of the powerful waves crashing against the sturdy cliffs like a melody is being played by God.
